Volunteering At Chehaw
The CEC Volunteer Program
The Chehaw Education Conservation (CEC) Volunteer Program is for adults (18+ years old) that are able to commit at least 72 volunteers hours per year as an education ambassador (docent), an education animal care volunteer, or as a keeper aide. The CEC volunteer trainee must attend approximately 42 hours of training. The training is offered once a year, starting in February. If you are interested in joining the program, please e-mail your contact information to Jennifer Arledge.

Short on Time?
Would you love to help Chehaw but don’t have time to be a CEC volunteer? Why not become a Special Event volunteer? We have events year-round and always need volunteers to help make them successful. If you are interested, please contact Hollyn Cohen.

  Junior Zookeepers
Chehaw also has a program for those younger than 18 years of age that wish to volunteer. Junior Zookeepers are teen volunteers (13-17 years old) that are interested in volunteering in the summer as camp counselors, exhibit hosts, and education animal care volunteers. Spaces in the Junior Zookeeper program are limited. Applicants will be required to submit an application and participate in an interview. Those selected for the program will be required to attend training in May. If you are interested please e-mail your contact information to Jennifer Arledge. Information packets with all of the materials needed to apply will be mailed to you in April.
