  Camp Details

Acting on Instinct: Lemurs, turacos, and bears... OH MY! Take acting lessons from monkeys and reptiles. Learn how animals communicate through “acting” (behaviors). Share what you learned through acting in a play for your parents and friends.

Full Scale Adventure: Slither in, if you dare! Watch a rattlesnake eat its dinner. "Capture" your own food, and try squeezing it to eat for dinner. Feed our blue-tongue skink, and watch as it captures its prey. Those wild, crazy reptiles are slithering all over the park, just waiting for you to discover them.

“Light” Sleepers: Shh! You don’t want to wake the animals. The owl, bat and raccoon love to be up all night and catch their zz’s when the sun comes up. Meet an opossum, touch an owl wing, and go behind-the-scenes to discover differences in nighttime and daytime hunters. Get in touch with your nocturnal side as you go batty about the night!

Nature’s Nasties: Get the scoop on poop, the business on barf, and everything that’s repulsive and gross in the animal world. Dissect owl barf to see what it's eaten the night before. Learn why nature’s nasties are really nature’s necessities, and why the natural world just wouldn’t be the same without them.

Starting Small: "Isn't that the cutest little wolf you have ever seen?" Starting small doesn't mean staying that way! Are you my mother? Play Mother Says - Baby Does Games. Meet Chehaw's newest arrivals. Be a baby bird and "eat worms". Come and grow with Chehaw!

Tail Spin: Lemurs, cheetahs, and zebras have tall tails and tales. Now you too, can put a spin on one of your own. Become a monkey and play follow the leader through Chehaw. Feel a opossums tail as we trade tales of fun.

Up The Creek: Don’t worry, we’ll give you a paddle! Join us in discovering the Muckalee Creek, the heart of an ecosystem. Learn how to safely canoe and navigate the creek as we explore Chehaw’s backyard on the water. Meet animals that might inhabit this area, discover how you can help them to survive. Note: This is a physically demanding camp.

Up The Creek II...Overboard for Conservation: PREREQUISITE: Up the Creek. You have learned the basics. Now hop back into Chehaw’s canoes and learn more skills through teamwork, challenge races, and trips farther up and down the creek. Have a boatload of fun while probing into environmental issues in our own backyard.

Zoo ‘Toons: Verne the Turtle, Boog the Bear, Mumble and Gloria the Penguins, and many more are going to be on screen at camp this summer! Discover animals, games, crafts and lessons inspired by the “Animal-ation” of the past few years. It’s “Open Season” and we are going “Over the Hedge” into the “The Wild” of “Madagascar” to look for the “Were-Rabbit”. Put on your “Happy Feet” and join us!
